Enrich Part 2

Make time for the people that enrich

How have you been doing this week? Have you had a chance to think about any of our activities so far?  As they seem to be building up I have added a tab at the top of the webpage so that you can access them individually and easily.

I just want to take a moment to say how much I am enjoying writing this blog.  I had always put very high expectations on myself and constantly strove for perfection – as if I was trying to convince myself that I had control.  Starting this blog however was a complete jump into the unknown.  I am not a writer or a photographer, and whilst being prone to bursts of creativity it is not a trait that defines my everyday. Moreover, I have never been particularly active on social media platforms.

However I do feel like I have a message that I want to get out there, and I have had so many positive responses that I have realised it doesn’t matter if I have only reached one person, it still means that I have made a difference.  I am learning a lot as I go and I appreciate you joining me for the ride.

So far we have talked about dreams/goals for 2018 (which we will come back to again by the end of the year),  the same for one month (I achieved mine this week with a visit to a wonderful nail salon- a rare treat), and our favourite things.

I think of all these activities, favourite things has had the most positive response, so I wanted to expand on that this week.

Putting your notes of your favourite things to one side, I now want you to start considering your favourite PEOPLE

Activity #4 – Write down the names of your favourite, soul-replenishing people

Think of all the people in your life: old friends, new friends, your family, your colleagues, even your acquaintances from certain clubs or classes if they happen to spring to mind.

Who really makes you feel great about yourself, which friends really enrich your life, which members of your family just get you but you hardly ever see?  Who inspires you?

  • your champions – when you have new ideas and dreams, who understands and eggs you on?
  • your SOS – in an emergency who do you know that you can count on?
  • your muses – who inspires you to see the world differently – maybe something simple like your style, or perhaps your reading/music list contributor!
  • your shared interest friends, meaning those who you do your favourite things with.

My sister came to stay for a few days recently and having her here is just so easy, it feels like we can communicate just by being in the same room as each other.  If you have someone you are close to like that you will know just what I mean – or maybe what resonates more for you is the scenario when you finally see an old friend and you just fall back into whichever conversation you probably finished on last time you were together!

I don’t like to focus on the negative, but in this exercise it may help some of you to make a separate column for the people who you know are not good for you – keep this one small and do not give it too much thought, as you predominantly need to be celebrating the good people in your life.

Take a step back and look at your diary for the next few months – how many appointments or events involve either these favourite people or your favourite things?

We will look into this further next week… have a good one x

In the meantime, do keep trying to take a few moments out for yourself each day, and share them with us on @minutesforme on instagram or on our minutes for me Facebook page.
