Change your frequency

You need to have a happy memory, or a happy song, that brings about such jubilance in your soul that you are able to snap out of the negative and right back to the positive where you belong

Hi – how have you been getting on? Are you any closer to achieving the goals you laid out at the beginning of this journey?  Have you got your diary culling down to a fine art, and things to look forward to that involve both people and activities that you love?  Are you getting out of bed every day thinking how wonderful you are and how you are going to positively impact on those around you today?

Or, more importantly, are you trying to find that all elusive 5 minutes for you each day?  I have to say, that since I started this mission, I have felt so much lighter on my feet, and the things that I am doing for me have been quite varied but all good fun.  I have had an amazing week, my nails and lashes look good, I am off to have a full body massage on Saturday (followed by two back to back children’s parties, just to put things in perspective!) and last night I had a wonderful date night at a lovely boutique restaurant that doubles up as a gin room. Before I started writing this blog, I would have laughed at my future self thinking ‘as if!’, but the more I think about having free time and the things I love the more the opportunities seem to be arising.

I hope that you have been sharing your #minutesforme every day too, so that we can grow and inspire each other.  It doesn’t have to be something that is just for you, just anything that makes you feel good and happy to be alive.

However, I appreciate that I am in a privileged position: I have my education, my qualification, my family, but most importantly I seem to have love.

This is not always the case for every individual, and definitely not all of the time.  I am in a good place right now, but I know what it is like to be in a bad place.  I also know the difference of how my day will turn out if something happens that upsets me or makes me cross.  In these circumstances, we need to be equipped with the tools to ‘change frequency’.

In these circumstances, we need to be equipped with the tools to ‘change frequency’

Loosely, and circling back to an earlier brief reference to the law of attraction and the ways of the Universe, this is the notion that if we give out the frequency of negative emotions such as sadness, stress, anger and frustration the Universe thinks that we want more of it so it keeps sending us things to elongate our experiences of those emotions.

In such cases, you need to be able to change your frequency.  You need to have a happy memory, or a happy song, that brings about such jubilance in your soul that you are able to snap out of the negative and right back to the positive where you belong.  I have a couple of these, but my easiest one was always ‘Raspberry Beret’ by Prince.  Somehow, I can never feel sad for too long when I sing that out loud and dance around, albeit this has gotten harder since Prince passed away as that makes me sad now.  I do have one especially funny memory from Ibiza (sorry Emma!) that is so strong I just need to retell it to myself to have me in fits of giggles!

Activity #6 – Write down or create frequency changers

(Activities 1- 5 from previous blogs listed here)

5 minutes:

Think about what your frequency changers are, write them down and keep them in mind when you feel like you are having a bad day.

More than 5 minutes:

Create yourself a playlist full of songs that make you feel happy.  Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Take That absolutely go, as well as the old crooners and anything else for that matter.  You don’t have to share these just get that ‘Emergency’ playlist ready to kick you out of the black and into the gold, sparkly and iridescent.

If you are happy to, share your frequency changers with us @minutesforme on Instagram and Facebook, or in your posts below, hopefully they will make us laugh/smile too.
